E-Mail: [email protected] Background: Orbit is pyramidal cavity in the facial skeleton with its apex at the optical canal. The dimensions of the orbital cavity vary in populations belonging to different geographical areas. The present study was conducted so as to know such differences which will further aid in anthropological and forensic evaluation of skulls. Materials: The study involved 100 dry skulls collected from Anatomy department of KIMS, Narketpally and also from medical and dental students. Orbital height (OH) and orbital breadth (OB) of both sides were measured using digital vernier calipers. Orbital index (OI) was then calculated with the formula OI= OH/OB X100 Results: The mean orbital height was 32.42mm, mean orbital breadth was 36.01mm and mean Orbital Index to be 87.39. Maximum orbits measured were of Mesoseme type. Conclusion: The orbital dimensions measured in the present study shows the diversity of orbital morphology in different geographical areas. It also may help in better treatment of orbital pathologies.

Here, we successfully developed the undoped, Ni2+, Cu2+, and Zn2+ doped Zirconia nanoparticles (ZrO2 NPs) by a simple co-precipitation method at room temperature and characterized by various physicochemical measurement techniques to investigate their structure, morphology, and sizes of the particles. The bandgap energy values of doped and undoped ZrO2 NPs were estimated using optical absorption...

Background & Aims: The orbital cavity is an important anatomic structure in the face. It is in close connection with the skull, paranasal sinuses, and the nose. Precise knowledge of the orbital cavity dimensions can be helpful in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases associated with the orbital cavity. Due to the lack of adequate research on orbital size in Iran and the city of Kerman, the ai...

The form and morphology criteria are among effective components in enhancement and improvement of urban environments and one of the features of successful urban spaces, is the way these criteria are arranged alongside each other especially at the visual landscape of an entrance space, because entrance of every place is the first and most important communication ring between the person and the ...
متن کاملSystematic Analysis of Palatal Rugae Pattern for Use in Human Identification between Two Different Populations
BACKGROUND Forensic odontology plays important role in identification of human remains in mass disasters such as air crash, tsunami, and accidents. Palatal rugae act as an ideal requisite for human identification as they are present in all victims and are resistant to changes such as aging and trauma. The study aimed to analyze differences in shape and number of palatal rugae in population from...
